Kevin's Christmas List
In the spirit of the season (gimmee, gimmee, gimmee...) here is my Christmas
list. I figure this way Santa can just hotlink from his
naughty_or_nice.html
list to my page. In fact, I'll even provide the relevant section of the
list for him:
Ok, now that we have that taken care of, on to the list...
- Computer stuff
- A faster connection from my house to the Internet. 28.8 is just too slow.
I thought that ISDN might be a good solution, but it looks like it ends up
costing just as much as a 56 KB frame relay connection. Any ideas?
- A new computer
- 100 MHZ or better Pentium, 256 KB onboard cache
- 16 MB memory
- 1.0 GB hard drive, preferably < 10 ms seek time
- 3.5" 1.44 MB floppy
- 4X CD-ROM drive
- fancy graphics card
- fancy sound card
- 17" color monitor
The trickiest part about this system is that I want to it to double-boot so
that I can run either Windows 95 or Linux. This is tricky because Windows
95 wants the newest components available while the Linux drivers often can't
handle the newer components. So it'll probably have to be custom built and
extensively tested. I hope that Microsoft didn't buy out all of Santa's
techie elves...
- Biking Stuff
- rain jacket
- rain pants
- SPD bike shoes and cleats
- waterproof panniers
- white blinky light
- a pair or two of those silly looking biking tights
- Skiing Stuff
- My skis repaired (I put a big ding in the bottom of one near the end
of last ski season and I never quite get around to getting it fixed.)
- Telemark boots
Well, that's a start anyway. Come back soon, as this is one web page that
is guaranteed to expand!
